Fourth of July weekend actually kicks off a few days early in Loudoun County. On June 27, you have two great options to choose from.
Star Spangled South Riding celebrates its 30th anniversary with their patriotic parade starting at 5 p.m. from Town Hall. The parade winds through the neighborhood before everyone gathers at the golf course for music, food vendors, and fireworks between 9:15 and 9:30 p.m.
That same evening, Sterling hosts Star Spangled Sterling at Sterling Middle School from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., with fireworks at 9:30 p.m.
Saturday, June 28 brings some unique events:
- Red, White ‘n Brew Hot Dog Mile at Lost Rhino Brewing in Ashburn – a one-mile run where you eat hot dogs before each of four laps
- What a Blast! at Hal & Berni Hanson Regional Park from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., with fireworks at 9:15 p.m.
July 3rd Pre-Holiday Events
Thursday, July 3 gives you even more ways to celebrate:
- Celebrate Freedom Night featuring the Purcellville Cannons baseball game at Fireman’s Field
- Lovettsville Parade, Pool Party & Celebration starting with a 5:30 p.m. parade, followed by carnival games, DJ, food, and face painting at Lovettsville Community Park. The evening includes a pool bash from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and fireworks at 9:30 p.m.
Independence Day Parades and Activities
July 4th brings celebrations all across Loudoun County with something for everyone:
Morning Parades:
- Leesburg Independence Day Parade starts at 9:45 a.m., going from Ida Lee Drive to Fairfax Drive through historic downtown
- Purcellville Independence Day Parade begins at 11 a.m., making a loop around the historic downtown area starting and ending at Blue Ridge Middle School
All-Day Activities:
- Red, White & Run 5K at Hal & Berni Hanson Regional Park at 8 a.m.
- Fourth Fest at Claude Moore Park from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with family activities

- Leesburg Concert and Fireworks at Ida Lee Park features The Silver Bullets performing hits from the 1960s to today, with gates opening at 6 p.m. The fireworks at 9:30 p.m. are billed as “the largest and most spectacular in the region”
- Middleburg Independence Day at the Community Charter School starts at 6 p.m. with activities and live music, followed by fireworks at 9:15 p.m.
- Franklin Park Fireworks & Live Music runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. with fireworks at 9:30 p.m.
